🎓 MA Marriage and Family Therapy, Saint Mary's University of Minnesota
First and foremost, I want you to know that I am dedicated to creating a safe space where you're able to be your authentic self without the fear of judgment. My name is Ryan and I have a master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. I'm a self-identified queerdo, which I'd define as: a queer person who embraces (and welcomes) their own weirdness and eccentricity! As a mental health practitioner, I strongly believe in the power of human connection through empathic listening, collaboration, and the occasional dose of well-intentioned humor. My theoretical orientation centers systemic thought and examining the ways in which we are affected by the systems we belong to (e.g., relationships, family, community, society). My work is also influenced by my lived experience with ADHD.
Areas I have a particular interest in include: LGBTQIA+, intersectionality, grief, anxiety, PTSD, racial trauma, intergenerational trauma, mood disorders, feminism, body image, eating disorders, intimate partner violence (IPV), ethical non-monogamy (ENM), and substance use. As a systemic thinker, I also believe it is important to examine the ways in which society oppresses people, and how that shapes the experiences we have (both personal and interpersonal) as social beings.
