🎓Practicum Student, MS Marriage & Family Therapy & Sex Therapy Certificate - UW Stout (2025-2026)
Therapy, for me, is a place where your whole self is welcome, especially the parts shaped by survival and trauma. As someone who grew up in the liminal spaces, the in-between—between cultures, expectations, identities—I know how disorienting it can be to find the harmony within these parts. My journey as a Hmong immigrant, a queer and neurodivergent person, with historical and intergenerational trauma, and a student of human development and systems led me to this work: helping others reclaim a sense of agency, meaning, and connection on their own terms.
I work with folxs who feel stuck in liminal spaces—between versions of themselves, between cultures or relationships, between past wounds and future hopes. Many of my clients carry complex or relational trauma, navigate ADHD or identity transitions, or are exploring gender, sexuality, or nontraditional relationship structures. I have experience supporting queer and trans clients, neurodivergent individuals, and those practicing kink or consensual non-monogamy. I also have training in sex therapy and welcome conversations around intimacy, desire, and embodiment.
In therapy, I aim to co-create a space where you don’t have to perform and where you can come home to yourself. My approach is warm, authentic, and grounded in curiosity. I blend structure and creativity, humor and depth, drawing from integrative existentialism, humanistic, and experiential traditions. I utilize narrative therapy, parts work, and Brainspotting, focusing on identifying strengths and solutions. (See below for explanations of these therapy terms.) These modalities support us in gently exploring the parts of you that have adapted to survive—and in honoring the wisdom and resilience behind them.
Healing, to me, is not linear; it’s a spiral. We circle back to familiar themes in our lives with more insight, skills, compassion, and capacity each time. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just need to show up. Together, we’ll make space for what’s ready to emerge.
If interested, below is a short explanation of the above therapy terms:
- Integrative Existentialism – I use a mix of approaches to help you explore what really matters and how you want to live with purpose and authenticity.
- Humanistic - You’re the expert on your life, and my job is to support you with warmth, respect, and non-judgment.
- Experiential - We slow down and notice what you’re feeling in the moment—so healing happens not just through talking, but through experiencing.
- Narrative Therapy – We’ll look at the stories you’ve been told (or tell yourself) and rewrite the ones that no longer serve you.
- Parts work (Internal Family Systems) - We’ll get to know the different “parts” of you—like the anxious, angry, or protective parts—with curiosity and compassion.
- Brainspotting - A approach that uses eye position to access and process trauma stored in the body and brain, often facilitating deep emotional healing.
